The Summer Recreation Intern will aid and assist the Director of Recreation & Marine Operations, Recreation Manager, and Recreation Coordinator with the planning, set up and execution of a variety of summer activities and special events. Seeking an energetic, organized, reliable, flexible, and team- oriented person who enjoys working with a variety of individuals. This position will be suited to meet the specific internship requirements and needs of the applicant.

The position starts on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, and the intern must commit to 14-16 weeks. Applicants must be available to work all weekends and holidays, including July 4th for the holiday’s special events.

* Maintain knowledge of:

     · Scheduled daily activities

     · Features and services of the resort

     · Hours of operation of each outlet within the resort

* Greet arriving members/guests and bid farewell to departing members/ guests

* Assist members/ guests with any fitness and recreational requirements

* Effectively and efficiently handle members/ guests complaints

* Provide the members/ guests with appropriate resort information and secure reservations as necessary

* Assist with running of the Fitness Center, Harbour Town Pool, and all Recreational activities

* Occasional shifts working at the Beach Club Parking Lot and Bicycle Shop

* Complete opening and closing procedures of the Fitness Center

* Complete daily departmental procedures

* Maintain accurate knowledge of local attractions and activities to recommend for members/ guests inquiries

* Relay accurate directions to members/ guests on inquiries regarding destinations within the local area

* Assist in planning and executing regularly scheduled activities, special events, and holiday activities

REQUIRED SKILLS DETAILS

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to reach with arms and hands, bend and stoop, remain at standing post for extended periods of time; may be required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Intern must be able to provide their own transportation to and from internship training site and all internship related activities.

Ability to adhere to responsible, safe and conscientious driving rules, Ability to understand member/guest inquiries and provide responses. Ability to prioritize, organize and make good judgement. Ability to perform assignments with minimal supervision. Plan, execute and facilitate group activities. Lead guided tours of 20 or more people. Ability to ensure security of Resort property. Ability to maintain confidentiality of member/guest information.

Ability to communicate in English with members/guests/employees to their understanding. Ability to provide legible communication and directions. Ability to work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team, or as an individual. Ability to focus on member/guest needs.

A majority of tasks are performed outdoors in variable weather conditions, including hot and humid weather. Temperature can be extreme, but is usually moderate.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE


High school diploma or general education degree (some college work preferred) and a minimum or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Computer skills, including the ability to use computer-based reservation system, experience with Microsoft Office, and the ability to respond to email requests.

Valid U.S. Driver’s License

First Aid, CPR and AED Certification
