Responsible for managing the Bicycle Shop operation including bicycle rentals and deliveries (walk-ins and advance reservations), bicycle repairs, and retail sales.  Duties include staff hiring, training and supervising, reservations, facility maintenance, and providing a high level of guest service. 

Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities.  To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently.     

 

Essential:

  • Strong guest service background.  Ability to provide a high level of service and a quality and safe experience for our guests and residents.
  • Previous recreation experience or hospitality service experience.
  • Computer literate in MS Office applications.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including most weekends and holidays.
  • Capable of multi-tasking. 
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Maintains facility appearance and product presentation in a quality manner.
  • Operates with the appropriate staff level based on work demands and business volumes.
  • Conducts on-the-job training as necessary and coordinates workflow based on guest needs and work demands.
  • Completes necessary paperwork including delivery and pick up reports, daily rental charges, daily deposit reports, and incident reports.
  • Ensures that the staff is properly attired and presents the appropriate appearance.
  • Ensures that drivers are safely loading trucks.
  • Ensures that vehicles are properly maintained.
  • Ensures that bicycles are maintained properly and safely.
  • Trains staff on proper procedures and holds them accountable. 
  • Spreads hospitality and good will among all guests of the Resort.
  • Good mechanical skills and able to use hand tools.

 

Desirable:

  • Degree in recreation, hospitality, sport management, or similar.
  • Previous experience as a recreation or hospitality supervisor or manager.
  • At least 3 years of prior recreation or hospitality experience.
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED certified.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS DETAILS

Ability to read and must have strong verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from residents, guests, vendors, and co-workers.  Must be able to communicate (verbally and in writing) effectively and efficiently to residents, guests, vendors, and co-workers.

This position functions with a minimum of direct supervision and requires the individual to be a self-starter, self-motivated, an effective leader and have the ability to prioritize effectively.

 

  • Responsible for bicycle rental operations within The Sea Pines Resort.
  • Review operations and conduct inspection in areas of responsibility to ensure desired standards of quality, service, cleanliness and controls are maintained.  The ability to direct corrective action where required.
  • The ability to develop relationships with residents, guests, group contacts, etc., to provide maximum personalized guest service.
  • Must be able to hire staff and properly train procedures, policies, regulations, service standards, and hospitality skills.
  • Responsible for all operational aspects of the Bicycle Shop.
  • Responsible for the appearance and safety of the facility based upon established standards.
  • Develop a sense of community, familiarity, professionalism, and friendliness for the departmental operations.
  • Properly handle reservations for guests.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and timely reports.
  • Responsible for operating within the established budget and for assisting with the creation of the annual budget.
  • Execute daily opening and closing responsibilities according to set standards.
  • Responsible for retail and fleet inventories and reconciliation.
  • Work with necessary departments to ensure the proper marketing and promotion of the programs.
  • Assist with other Sea Pines Resort functions as necessary.
  • Maintain close relationships with other Resort managers and operations within Sea Pines.

 

  • Able to remain calm and react quickly when confronted with several tasks at once.
  • Able to work with other operating departments on property.
  • Able to work unsupervised and make decisions in Director’s absence.
  • Maintain a positive and cooperative attitude, demeanor, and approach with guests and coworkers.
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Able to lift 50 pounds or more.

 

Must have excellent communication and guest-service skills, and be capable of handling effectively difficult guests and their issues. Good listening skills are needed to facilitate problem solving.
