The primary role of a Sea Pines Caddie is to ensure that members and guests have an enjoyable round of golf. Our Caddies are expected to provide superior personalized service to each golfer to make their round more enjoyable. Since this position spends more time with our customers than any other position in our golf department, Caddies are expected to have excellent customer relations skills and a high level of knowledge about The Sea Pines Resort.
Check with the Bag Drop attendant to see if your group has arrived and to see what assistance he/she may need.
Upon identifying your players introduce yourself in a respectful manner – “hat off, hand out” – and familiarize them with what we will be providing them with during their experience. Make every effort to make them feel comfortable and answer any questions they may have.
Use the time your players spend before the round using the practice facilities to become familiar with them and their equipment. Acquire their full names.
Check with the Starter and assist them in getting your group to the tee in a timely manner.
On the golf course one of your highest priorities as a Forecaddie or Caddie is PACE OF PLAY. Our goal is a round of (4:00) four hours, not to exceed (4:30) four hours and thirty minutes.
While on the golf course, caddies should repair ball marks, fill divots, and rake bunkers. Promote to your players the importance of fixing ball marks and filling divots. Remind them if they need to fill their divot bottles at the stations. Player and caddie course maintenance is essential to the Resort’s golf operation.
Throughout your time with your players you will be asked to provide information about The Sea Pines Resort, its golf courses and the area around the resort. Upselling the resorts amenities is a requirement. You will become familiar with many of these during your Orientation session. The promotion of businesses outside of The Sea Pines Resort should be limited to general information only.
The Caddie Master will assist all new caddies in learning the etiquette, protocol and basic duties and responsibilities of on-course situations with members and guests.
At the end of the round you are required to escort your players and their clubs to their car or lodging (i.e. The Inn, Ketch or Cutter Court, etc. within reason). Invite them to visit our Clubhouses (the Harbour Town Grill or The Lakehouse Golf Pub) or The Quarterdeck for an after round refreshment. Always offer a handshake and a sincere “Thank You” as well as an invitation for a return visit.
After the round clean your carts thoroughly and restock them for the next round.
